Bathroom Window Coverings

Options for Unique Bathroom Window Coverings

How do you cover a bathroom window? In most bathrooms, it's a critical window to find a treatment for because of the need of privacy in that most private room of any house. In addition, you need to create an overall décor that will look nice and make you feel good about others seeing your home, and you want something that's going to hold up well and keep looking attractive even in the hot, steamy conditions of a bathroom. Fortunately, there are a number of unique bathroom window coverings you can choose from.

Privacy is of the utmost importance in your bathroom, for obvious reasons. Whereas you might be able to get by for awhile without anything covering on living room or kitchen windows, your bathroom is another matter altogether. You need something that will be opaque enough to keep out prying eyes while being thin enough to allow light to shine through. Cafe curtains have traditionally worked well for this, because the bottom half of the window is covered while light shines in through the top part of the glass. There are many delightful fabrics you can choose from which will make your bathroom look its best.

I can remember my grandmother using a plastic bathroom window covering blinds that matched her shower curtain. Since the window was right over her tub, this made sense. However, it wasn't particularly beautiful to look at, and it made the room look a bit dark even during the day. That was then and this is now, though. Today there are even better options, such as a valances and sheer panels. The lightweight, synthetic fabrics they are made of are easy to wash and rehang in order to keep your bathroom looking nice enough for guests to use.

Synthetic fabrics are better for bathroom use, because they won't mildew. You can even use window blinds if you choose. Whereas real wooden blinds will warp in the damp conditions, faux wood will not, so you can have the look of blinds without the problems. This goes for wood shutters and woven woods, too. Always make sure that your window treatments don't obstruct the operation of the window, because there will be times when you will want to open the window and get air into the room.

There are a lot of choices when it comes to bathroom window blinds. Take your time to explore your options, and you'll be sure to arrive at a look that rivals the décor in the rest of your home.
